Realistic touch & motion: Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard action

The Kawai’s Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard action, with grade-weighed keys and a 3-sensor system for improved accuracy and control. Combined with key cushioning and hammer-sensing technology inherited from the high-specification CN series models, the CX202 delivers a realistic playing feel and quiet, expressive performance that supports confident musical development at home.

Acoustic piano key weighting

Just as acoustic pianos utilise heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers, the RHCII keyboard action also employs different hammer weights, appropriately graded for each playing range.

Such details provide greater stability during fortissimo passages, while preserving delicate pianissimo control, to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning pianist.

Triple sensor key detection
The Responsive Hammer Lite keyboard action features Kawai’s authentic Ivory Touch key surface material, which has an attractive matte finish that is smooth but not slippery. These characteristics are beneficial in aiding finger control and contribute to the overall impression of playing a high-quality, authentic piano.

The Sound of a Grand Piano: Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand

The Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano was conceived as the next step in evolving the art of the piano.  Earning a reputation as the ‘premier piano of Japan,’ it graces the stages of concert halls and musical institutions around the globe, receiving universal acclaim for its exceptional clarity and dynamic range.

The SK-EX has frequently been selected by professional pianists at such prestigious events as the Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Rubenstein international piano competitions.  With its truly magnificent tone and wonderfully responsive touch, the SK-EX can best be described with one word – incomparable.

The Variety of a Digital Piano: Convenience & Flexibility
Complementing the instrument’s acclaimed Responsive Hammer Lite keyboard action and Harmonic Imaging piano sounds, the CX202 also offers a variety of convenient digital features that further enhance one’s musical enjoyment.

A selection of different instrument voices, built-in lesson songs, and the ability to record and playback performances are just some of the features accessible from the cheek-block control panel, while built-in Bluetooth® MIDI and Audio functionality allow connecting to smart devices wirelessly for running apps or streaming music.

PianoRemote app
The Kawai CX202 becomes even more versatile with the PianoRemote app, which lets users control the piano wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet. It unlocks access to built-in lesson songs, sound customisation through the Virtual Technician, and easy navigation of the onboard music library. With features like Dual and Split mode activation, the app enhances the CX202’s functionality, making it a more intuitive and engaging instrument for practice and performance.

Lesson Function

The CX202’s convenient lesson function allows aspiring pianists to learn piano with classical Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer, and Chopin etudes, or collections of songs from the popular Alfred’s Basic Piano course books.

The left and right-hand parts of each etude/song can be practised separately, using the adjustable metronome feature to perfect timing in difficult passages, before recording the completed piece for self-evaluation.

Space-saving music rest

The fold-down music rest on the Kawai CX202 adds value by combining functionality with sleek design. It saves space, protects the rest during transport, and enhances the piano’s modern aesthetic when closed.

When in use, it provides a stable platform for sheet music or tablets, and when folded, it offers easy access to controls—making it ideal for both compact living spaces and versatile playing needs.
