DiMarzio True Velvet Bridge Alnico 5 Single-Coil Electric Guitar Pickup – Aged White, Black, White

DiMarzio True Velvet Bridge Alnico 5 Single-Coil Electric Guitar Pickup – Aged White, Black, White

Bring the warmth, sparkle and expressive character of vintage Stratocaster-style pickups to your electric guitar with the DiMarzio DP176 True Velvet Bridge Single-Coil Pickup. Designed for guitarists seeking authentic vintage tone with improved string balance and natural playing dynamics, the True Velvet Bridge delivers bright, articulate sound without excessive harshness.

Introduced in 2008, the True Velvet series represents a further development of DiMarzio’s earlier Blue Velvet pickups. The Bridge model was carefully voiced to capture the most desirable characteristics of classic single-coils, combining clear high frequencies, warm midrange and responsive attack for versatile musical performance.

One of the pickup’s defining characteristics is its smooth treble response. While traditional Strat-style bridge pickups can sometimes sound overly bright or piercing, the True Velvet Bridge is tuned to preserve clarity while making higher notes sound sweeter, even above the 12th fret. This makes it particularly suitable for expressive lead guitar playing and melodic passages.

Equipped with Alnico 5 magnets, the pickup delivers a lively, dynamic response with excellent sensitivity to picking strength. Its manufacturer-rated 142mV output provides a slightly stronger and warmer sound than the matching True Velvet Neck and Middle models, allowing smooth transitions between pickup positions.

The True Velvet Bridge also features a carefully designed staggered magnet arrangement that helps balance the output of individual strings. This contributes to excellent note separation and consistent articulation, even when playing full chords or complex rhythm patterns.

For an authentic vintage-style construction, the pickup comes standard with hand-ground magnets and cloth-covered wiring. These details complement its classic appearance while providing the familiar installation characteristics of traditional Strat-style single-coil pickups.

With clean amplification, the True Velvet Bridge produces sparkling chords, articulate melodies and the crisp attack associated with classic Stratocaster guitars. Under light or moderate overdrive, it retains its definition while developing expressive warmth and a slightly gritty character.

Its balanced voicing makes it an excellent choice for blues, country, classic rock, pop, funk and other musical styles that benefit from dynamic single-coil tone.

Although developed as a bridge pickup, DiMarzio recommends the True Velvet Bridge for all positions. For a complementary three-pickup setup, combine it with the True Velvet Neck (DP175) and True Velvet Middle (DP175S).

The pickup uses a traditional two-conductor single-coil design and operates without a battery. Unlike DiMarzio’s Area or Injector series, it is not independently hum-cancelling, so familiar single-coil hum may occur when used alone.

Available in Aged White (DP176AW), Black (DP176BK) and White (DP176W), all three versions share the same electrical design and tonal characteristics.

Whether you’re restoring a vintage-inspired Stratocaster or upgrading a modern electric guitar, the DiMarzio True Velvet Bridge provides an excellent balance of clarity, warmth, expressive dynamics and classic single-coil character.
