Developed in collaboration with legendary guitarist Steve Vai, the Gravity Storm Bridge combines full-bodied tone, rich midrange and a smooth treble response for guitarists seeking both power and musical versatility.

Introduced in 2012, the Gravity Storm series takes its name from a song on Steve Vai’s album The Story of Light. Designed as the next step in his signature pickup evolution, the Gravity Storm Bridge offers a different tonal character from the sharper, more aggressive sound of the original Evolution Bridge.

The Gravity Storm Bridge features a distinctive balance of warmth and attack. Its powerful bass and prominent midrange create a thick, rich sound, while its rounded high frequencies allow expressive lead playing without excessive harshness.

Equipped with an Alnico 5 magnet, the pickup delivers excellent responsiveness and a natural feel. Its manufacturer-rated 340mV output provides enough power for rock and high-gain performances while preserving the dynamics needed for cleaner passages and expressive playing.

One of its defining characteristics is its smooth high-frequency response. The Gravity Storm produces fat, singing treble notes, allowing guitarists to increase the treble on their amplifier without easily losing warmth or sustain in the upper register.

Featuring DiMarzio’s Dual-Resonance design, the pickup generates rich harmonic overtones that enhance sustained bends, expressive solos and powerful rhythm playing. Its broad tonal response makes it particularly effective for progressive rock, hard rock, fusion and instrumental guitar performances.

Designed specifically for the bridge position of compatible six-string electric guitars, the pickup features F-Spaced pole-piece alignment, commonly suited to instruments with wider bridge string spacing, including many Floyd Rose and Fender-style tremolo guitars.

The Gravity Storm Bridge also features four-conductor wiring, allowing coil splitting and parallel humbucking configurations with suitable guitar electronics. Its passive construction requires no battery.
