Upgrade your bass guitar with the DiMarzio DP149BK Ultra Jazz Neck & Bridge Pickup Set, a powerful hum-cancelling pickup combination designed to bring enhanced depth, clarity, and dynamic response to traditional Jazz Bass-style instruments. Combining familiar J-style pickup aesthetics with DiMarzio’s advanced magnetic design, the Ultra Jazz delivers a versatile tonal character suitable for both vintage-inspired and modern bass performances.
Developed for bassists who want a wider frequency response, the Ultra Jazz produces deep, defined low frequencies, a rich yet controlled midrange, and bright, percussive highs. This balanced tonal character helps basslines remain articulate and expressive, whether you’re performing smooth fingerstyle grooves, aggressive pick-driven rhythms, or complex melodic passages.
Each pickup features a specialised Alnico 5 and ceramic magnet combination, providing a wide dynamic range and fast response to playing technique. The hybrid magnetic structure allows the Ultra Jazz to reproduce delicate finger movements while maintaining punch and clarity during more forceful playing.
Unlike conventional single-coil Jazz Bass pickups, the Ultra Jazz uses a hum-cancelling dual-coil configuration. Each coil senses a pair of strings rather than relying on a stacked-coil design, helping reduce unwanted electrical hum while preserving strong treble response and clean low-end definition.
The DP149BK includes both neck and bridge pickups, making it a practical upgrade for compatible four-string Jazz Bass-style instruments. With its four-conductor wiring, the set also provides flexibility for customised electronic configurations when installed by an experienced technician.
Its passive construction requires no battery, allowing the pickups to work with conventional bass guitar electronics. The classic black finish complements a wide range of instruments, from traditional Jazz Bass models to contemporary J-style bass designs.
Whether you’re looking for stronger output, quieter performance, or more expressive tonal versatility, the DiMarzio Ultra Jazz Neck & Bridge Pickup Set offers an excellent combination of deep bass response, articulate high frequencies, and dependable playing dynamics.
