Katana-Air comes loaded with sounds derived from the Katana stage amplifiers, dialled in for maximum expression with its desktop cabinet. Five unique amp characters provide tones from sparkling clean to BOSS’s custom high-gain Brown sound, along with a dedicated character for acoustic-electric guitar. You also get access to over 60 BOSS effects, including a wide selection of overdrives, distortions, and boosters, plus mod, delay, and reverb effects optimised for the amp’s stereo speaker system. And with six onboard memories, you can store your favourite amp and effects setups for instant recall.
BOSS’s acclaimed digital wireless guitar technology is at the heart of Katana-Air, providing transparent sound and lightning-fast response without any lag or dropouts. The included transmitter offers up to 12 hours of playing time per charge, and the integrated motion sensor and standby function conserve energy when the system is idle. This allows you to keep the transmitter plugged in between sessions and turn the system on just by picking up your instrument. When it’s time to charge, simply connect the transmitter to the amp’s convenient docking port.
The optional EV-1-WL Wireless MIDI Expression Pedal and FS-1-WL Wireless Footswitch expand the Katana-Air experience, letting you remotely operate functions you assign in the BOSS Tone Studio mobile app. Control volume and wah, change patches, and trigger the app’s practice tools—all with a cable-free connection. Built-in Bluetooth® lets you wirelessly edit sounds with the BOSS Tone Studio app and play along with songs streamed from your mobile device. For fresh inspiration, log onto BOSS Tone Exchange to explore sounds created by other users. It’s also possible to record tracks directly to computer music software via USB. When it’s time to relax, Katana-Air does double duty as a high-quality portable Bluetooth speaker for enjoying tunes from your music library.
Along with its editing features, the BOSS Tone Studio app comes with integrated tools to supercharge daily practice with YouTube video content. Create song lists for quick recall and loop sections for focused study. And when you want to jam with backing tracks and songs, automatic memory switching takes the experience to a new level. Set a clean sound for the verse, crunch for the chorus, and high-gain drive with echo for your solo—and they’ll all change at spots you determine as the video plays. It’s even possible to save your custom switching setups with the BOSS Tone Exchange community.
