Introduced in 2009, the True Velvet T Neck builds upon the design philosophy of DiMarzio’s popular Twang King Neck pickup. While traditional Telecaster neck pickups are sometimes criticised for sounding weak or muddy, the True Velvet T Neck is carefully voiced to produce clean, substantial bass notes and articulate high frequencies.

One of its defining characteristics is its smooth treble response. Compared with the Twang King Neck, the True Velvet T Neck features softer, less pronounced highs while retaining a stronger attack. This creates a musical, well-balanced sound that works particularly well for expressive blues phrasing, warm chord voicings and melodic lead playing.

Equipped with Alnico 5 magnets, the pickup delivers a responsive playing feel with excellent note clarity. Its manufacturer-rated 95mV output provides traditional vintage-style performance, allowing subtle differences in picking strength and guitar volume settings to influence the overall sound.

The pickup uses DiMarzio’s controlled-tension coil-winding technique, specially selected wire and individually calibrated magnets. These design elements help maintain consistent tonal performance while preserving the character and dynamics associated with classic Telecaster pickups.
