DiMarzio Stevie Vai Signature Model Gravity Storm Neck Humbucker Pickup – Black

DiMarzio Stevie Vai Signature Model Gravity Storm Neck Humbucker Pickup – Black

Experience rich warmth, expressive harmonics and exceptional note clarity with the DiMarzio DP252FBK Gravity Storm Neck Steve Vai Signature Humbucker Pickup – Black. Developed in collaboration with legendary guitarist Steve Vai, the Gravity Storm Neck offers a distinctive combination of full-bodied humbucker tone and the articulate bite commonly associated with single-coil pickups.

Introduced in 2012, the Gravity Storm series takes its name from a song on Steve Vai’s album The Story of Light. Designed as the next step in his signature pickup evolution, the Gravity Storm Neck delivers a warmer, more organic character while retaining the clarity and responsiveness needed for technically demanding performances.

One of its defining characteristics is its unique tonal balance. The pickup produces a sweet, warm sound with a slightly edgy texture, allowing it to deliver the depth of a humbucker without sacrificing definition. Its throaty midrange character makes it particularly appealing to guitarists seeking expressive neck tones that stand out in a band mix.

Equipped with a ceramic magnet, the Gravity Storm Neck delivers focused attack and excellent articulation. Its manufacturer-rated 290mV output provides a strong yet controllable signal suitable for clean amplification, overdrive and high-gain guitar performances.

The pickup is especially effective at reproducing picking harmonics. While many warm neck humbuckers can soften harmonic detail, the Gravity Storm Neck retains an expressive response, particularly on guitars with 24 frets. This makes it ideal for sustained bends, melodic lead passages, fast legato playing and expressive vibrato.

With clean amplification, the pickup produces rich, detailed chords and smooth melodic tones. When combined with distortion, it delivers singing sustain, excellent note separation and the clarity needed for progressive rock, hard rock, fusion and instrumental guitar performances.

Designed primarily for the neck position of compatible six-string electric guitars, the Gravity Storm Neck can also be installed in the bridge position. Its responsive voicing provides flexibility for players seeking a warmer alternative to conventional bridge pickups.

The pickup features four-conductor wiring, supporting additional switching configurations such as coil splitting and parallel humbucking when installed with compatible guitar electronics. Its passive construction requires no battery.

For a complementary pickup combination, pair it with the DiMarzio Gravity Storm Bridge (DP253). The Bridge model delivers stronger output and pronounced midrange, while the Neck provides a smoother, more articulate voice.

Finished in classic Black, the DiMarzio DP252FBK Gravity Storm Neck features F-Spaced pole-piece alignment for compatible electric guitars requiring wider string spacing.

Whether you’re performing expressive guitar solos, complex chord progressions or dynamic rock performances, the Gravity Storm Neck delivers exceptional warmth, harmonic richness and articulate Steve Vai signature tone.
