DiMarzio Stevie Vai Signature Model Blaze Bridge 7-String Humbucker Pickup – Black

Unleash powerful seven-string performance with the DiMarzio Blaze Bridge Steve Vai Signature Humbucker Pickup. Developed in collaboration with legendary guitarist Steve Vai, the Blaze Bridge was designed to deliver exceptional clarity, powerful low-frequency response and outstanding articulation for extended-range electric guitars.

Introduced in 1990, the Blaze series helped define the sound of early seven-string electric guitars. Created to complement Steve Vai’s innovative playing style and the demands of the Ibanez Universe guitar, the Blaze Bridge provides a distinctive balance of modern output, controlled midrange and broad tonal response.

One of the Blaze Bridge’s defining characteristics is its scooped midrange voicing. Inspired by the tonal approach of DiMarzio’s Steve’s Special pickup, this design combines powerful bass with clear high frequencies while keeping the midrange open. The result is a sound that maintains excellent note definition even when playing through high-gain amplifiers.

Equipped with a ceramic magnet, the Blaze Bridge delivers strong attack and a focused response, making it ideal for technically demanding performances. Its manufacturer-rated 380mV output provides substantial power for aggressive rhythm guitar playing, expressive lead solos and modern heavy music.

The pickup’s pronounced bass response gives the low seventh string impressive depth and impact. At the same time, its carefully controlled midrange helps prevent low notes from becoming muddy, particularly when using distortion or overdrive.

This tonal balance makes the Blaze Bridge highly versatile. Heavy palm-muted riffs sound powerful and defined, while fast alternate-picking passages retain precision and clarity. Complex chords remain articulate, allowing individual notes to be heard rather than blending into an indistinct sound.

With clean amplification, the pickup produces a wide, almost high-fidelity tonal character. Its clear high frequencies and open midrange help chords sound spacious and detailed, making the Blaze Bridge useful beyond hard rock and metal.

Designed specifically for the bridge position of seven-string electric guitars, the Blaze Bridge pairs naturally with the DiMarzio Blaze Neck (DP700) and Blaze Middle (DP701) for a versatile pickup configuration.

Featuring four-conductor wiring, the pickup supports additional switching arrangements such as coil splitting and parallel humbucking when used with compatible electronics. Its passive construction requires no battery.

Available in classic Black, the DiMarzio Blaze Bridge offers the powerful bass, precise attack and articulate response needed for expressive seven-string guitar playing.

Whether you’re performing progressive metal, instrumental rock, fusion or technically demanding lead passages, this Steve Vai signature pickup delivers a combination of powerful output, extended-range clarity and exceptional tonal versatility.
