DiMarzio Paul Gilbert Signature Model Injector Neck Hum-Canceling Guitar Pickup – Black, White

DiMarzio Paul Gilbert Signature Model Injector Neck Hum-Canceling Guitar Pickup – Black, White

Experience powerful, articulate guitar tone with the DiMarzio DP422 Injector Neck Paul Gilbert Signature Pickup. Developed in collaboration with acclaimed guitarist Paul Gilbert, the Injector Neck combines the warmth and fullness of a modern pickup with the clarity, responsiveness, and familiar appearance of a traditional Strat-style single-coil.

Designed for guitarists who demand precision, versatility, and exceptional playing dynamics, the Injector Neck delivers a stronger, warmer sound than conventional vintage single-coil pickups without introducing unwanted electrical hum.

The pickup features a stacked hum-cancelling design, providing quieter performance while retaining the compact dimensions of a Strat-style pickup. This makes it an excellent upgrade for players seeking more output and tonal body without switching to a full-size humbucker.

Equipped with Alnico 2 magnets, the Injector Neck delivers a smooth, balanced response with clear high frequencies, controlled bass, and a rich midrange. Its manufacturer-rated 160mV output offers more strength than many vintage-style Strat pickups, making it suitable for both clean playing and modern high-gain guitar sounds.

One of its most distinctive characteristics is its responsiveness to picking technique. With approximately 40% less magnetic string pull than conventional single-coil pickups, the Injector Neck allows freer string vibration and responds naturally to subtle changes in playing intensity.

Developed to complement Paul Gilbert’s fast and technically demanding playing style, the pickup maintains clarity during rapid alternate-picking passages, complex arpeggios, and expressive lead solos. Even with heavy distortion, notes remain articulate without becoming excessively thin or muddy.

With clean amplification, the Injector Neck produces a full, well-balanced tone suitable for melodic passages, chord voicings, and rhythm playing. Under overdrive, it delivers smooth sustain, excellent note separation, and enough warmth for expressive rock and fusion performances.

The pickup is designed primarily for the neck position of compatible six-string Strat-style electric guitars, although it can also be used in the middle or bridge position.

For a versatile pickup configuration, pair the Injector Neck with the DiMarzio Area 67 (DP419) in the middle and Injector Bridge (DP423) in the bridge. This combination was used by Paul Gilbert on the guitar associated with his album Fuzz Universe, offering a wide range of vintage-inspired and modern tones.

Featuring four-conductor wiring, the Injector Neck supports compatible switching configurations and integrates with conventional passive guitar electronics. Its passive construction requires no battery.

Available in Black (DP422BK) and White (DP422W), the DiMarzio Injector Neck provides a powerful combination of hum-free performance, expressive dynamics, modern tonal versatility, and signature Paul Gilbert character.
