DiMarzio Super Distortion S Hum-Cancelling Stratocaster Pickup – Aged White, Black, White

DiMarzio Super Distortion S Hum-Cancelling Stratocaster Pickup – Aged White, Black, White

Bring the legendary power of the Super Distortion humbucker to your Stratocaster-style electric guitar with the DiMarzio DP218 Super Distortion S Pickup, a high-output, single-coil-sized humbucker designed for guitarists seeking aggressive rock tones without installing a full-size humbucker.

Inspired by DiMarzio’s iconic Super Distortion pickup, the Super Distortion S combines powerful output, rich midrange frequencies, and a controlled low-end response in a compact design that fits compatible Strat-style pickup cavities. Its specially tuned construction delivers the thick, powerful character associated with high-output humbuckers while accommodating the traditional slanted bridge pickup position.

Equipped with a ceramic magnet and dual-blade pole pieces, the Super Distortion S provides strong string response and dependable articulation. The blade-style design maintains magnetic coverage across the strings, making it particularly effective for expressive bends, aggressive rhythm playing, and sustained lead guitar passages.

With a rated 325mV output, the DP218 delivers a powerful signal suitable for rock, hard rock, and high-gain guitar performances. Its tonal response features tight bass frequencies, pronounced midrange, and smooth treble, helping chords remain defined while individual notes retain clarity and presence.

Unlike traditional Stratocaster single-coil pickups, the Super Distortion S uses a hum-cancelling design to help reduce unwanted electrical noise. This makes it an appealing upgrade for guitarists who want a stronger, thicker sound with less hum during demanding performances or recording sessions.

The pickup also features four-conductor wiring, allowing additional tonal configurations such as parallel humbucking and coil splitting when installed with suitable switching electronics. DiMarzio specifically designed its split-coil response to remain clear and usable rather than excessively thin.

Although primarily recommended for the bridge position, the Super Distortion S can also be installed in compatible neck or middle positions. It pairs particularly well with other DiMarzio single-coil-sized humbuckers, including the Pro Track, The Chopper, and Fast Track 1.

Available in Aged White (DP218AW), Black (DP218BK), and White (DP218W), all three variations share the same magnetic construction, electronic specifications, and intended tonal performance.

Whether you’re upgrading a traditional Strat-style guitar or building a versatile rock-oriented instrument, the DiMarzio Super Distortion S delivers powerful humbucker character, flexible wiring options, and reliable performance in a compact pickup format.
