Ibanez’s thin, flat and fast Wizard neck is strong and sturdy and offers unlimited playability and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for a wide tonal range.
Jatoba has a reddish brown color which produces a rich mid range with a crisp high end.
The Quantum pickups have a quick low-end response to picking and are able to capture fast passages with precise note definition, while delivering a full-bodied mid-to-high range.
The Double Locking system holds your guitar in tune even under aggressive on-stage abuse.
One of JEM’s most recognisable features: Steve Vai’s signature monkey grip. Crank your amp up, grab that baby and hold on for dear life.

Steve Vai is a virtuoso guitarist, visionary composer, and three-time GRAMMY Award winner with over 15 million albums sold worldwide. He began his career at 18 transcribing for and performing with Frank Zappa, and has since become one of music’s true originals. Vai has worked with legendary artists including David Lee Roth and Whitesnake, released 16 solo albums, and received numerous accolades, including Guitar Player Magazine’s prestigious Les Paul Award.
In 1985, Vai designed the iconic Ibanez JEM guitar—featuring revolutionary innovations like the floating tremolo and signature monkey grip. The JEM has become one of the longest-running, most successful signature series guitars in history. Vai also created “The Universe,” the first commercial 7-string electric guitar, which sparked an entire metal subculture in the mid-’90s.
Beyond his musical legacy, Vai founded Favored Nations Entertainment in 1999 and established the Make a Noise Foundation to provide instruments and music education to young musicians in need.
